SVRS is one of the few 100% volunteer operated Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies in Northern Virginia. We have been in operation almost 50 years and we are located in the suburban community of Sterling, Virginia. Sterling is located about 25 miles northwest of Washington, DC. SVRS provides EMS & Rescue response to the residents of the neighborhoods of Broad Run Farms, Cardinal Glen, Cascades, Countryside, Dulles, Great Falls Forest, Lowes Island, Oak Grove, Potomac Falls, Richland Acres, Sterling, Sterling Park and Sugarland Run or to locations directed by Loudoun Country Fire & Rescue.
Sterling Rescue’s service area is bounded by the Potomac River to the north, Dulles Airport to the south, the Fairfax County line to the east, and Ashburn to the west. Overall, our response area covers about 25 square miles of eastern Loudoun County, Virginia, serving a population of approximately 28,000.
It is the mission of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad to provide the highest level of emergency medical care and technical rescue services to those that require our assistance. We do it with dedication, excellence and compassion. We have over 185 active members and 7 ambulances that provide around the clock professionally trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Paramedics responding to emergencies ranging from chest pain or trouble breathing to automobile injuries. We then provide medical transport to most appropriate and nearest hospital.
